Charbar is one of the nicknames for our grey American Tuxedo cat, Charlemagne. Charbar is made from high-quality, biochar-grade charcoal.
Charlemagne’s Story
We found Charlemagne at the local shelter in Conway, NH. When we moved to the area we were in need of a good mouser. We loved his friendliness and indifference to dogs. When we met him he had only recently recovered from a wide variety of wounds he suffered from an animal attack. A local resident found him ravaged and brought him to the shelter where they nursed him back to health. We’ll never know what attacked our little buddy, but he made a full recovery.
Now he is stuck in our home most of the day, looking for ways to escape. If he does escape, he always comes back. He enjoys supervised walks outside throughout our permaculture gardens, climbing on trees and stumps with vigor; hot on the trail of who knows what. The more developed the farm, the more the wild bird population increases, which suits Charlemagne just fine.
Charlemagne has multiple canine siblings and is slowing turning into a dog himself, sitting for his share of the treats whenever they come out. He’s gained a lot of weight being an indoor cat, but he’s living a good life safe from the many predators that lurk in the woods outside. While the PTSD from his past manifests itself in occasional bouts of angst and anxiety, he still always treats his human and canine roommates with respect. We accept his anger management issues as part of the little guy’s character and love him for who he is.
Charlemagne soon became a treasured family member and loves to spend his evenings snug on our laps or curled up on his bed next to the woodstove. Also, he is an excellent mouser.
