Summary
Our high-quality Biochar is made from New Hampshire mixed hardwood / softwoods. It's cooked at around 1100ºF in an environmentally-friendly kiln which is powered by the wood's own syngas. This means very little smoke is used in the process, only to get the kiln started. The biochar is crushed in a hammer mill and then bagged.
Biochar is a soil conditioner. It holds water, increases the surface area of your soil with organic carbon allowing for more microbiology, and (most importantly) it increases the cation exchange. Cation exchange is a fancy term for how we measure how much nutrient holding capacity a soil has. All three of these qualities are ideal for New Hampshire's sandy, acidic granite alluvial soil.
With Biochar you can reduce the amount of fertilizer you put down, increase your drought tolerance, and increase your microbiology population in your soil. It's a one and done soil amendment. You will see a result when applying 2% to 15% of Biochar to the total soil volume. Over 15%, there is no observable benefit. Below is a table to give you ideas for application rates:

Summary
These gardener 'shares' are ideal for those who are looking to boost fertility and keep their vegetable or flower gardens thriving all season long. There's no better way to reduce your grocery bills than a couple of thriving veggie beds and there's no better pick-me-up than a bouquet of abundant cut-flowers from your own flower garden.
The Build Fertility share has enough biochar and wool pellets to juice up two 4' x 12' raised beds of biochar at 5.5% of the growing volume, and generously fertilize twice in the growing season.
Biochar with Wool Pellet Fertilizer is a super combo, because they both hold water and biochar holds on to the nutrients of the wool pellets as they break down. Wool Pellets are a slow release fertilizer. This means increased production and drought tolerance.
The Hungry Garden share provides your garden with a steady source of water soluble nutrients and stimulants for your garden's microbiome. If you have a new garden you can leverage these liquid plant foods to meet the needs of your plants while you are building soil fertility. If you have a mature, fertile garden already these liquid plant foods can be used to grow vegetables for winning competitions.
Use what the pros use and also reduce your garden's carbon foot print!
