Pelletized wool is an ideal slow-release fertilizer for farms and gardens. It utilizes a renewable resource that is high in nitrogen and potash, with almost no phosphorus.
Sheep eat grass, forbs, and tree fodder. All from the types of plants which mine potassium deep in the soil. Potassium and other nutrients make it into the sheep's wool. The absence of phosphorus makes it ideal if you have been using manure in your garden for years.
We use 100% raw wool unsuitable for textiles to make wool pellets. The pelletizer machine heats up the wool and pushes it through a die to make the pellet shape. It requires heat and steam to compact the pellet. This allows it to break down quicker than raw, unprocessed wool, but still a slow release.
Wool is excellent at retaining moisture and can be used as a replacement for peat moss in many applications. This makes it ideal for soil blocks, plant starts, and potting soil.
Our wool pellets are sold online in 1 and 2 pound bags. Wool Pellets are an ideal choice of fertilizer for sandy soils. Because it is a slow-release type fertilizer, it breaks down slowly over the season.
Bigger quantities are available by custom order.
