Description

When added to the soil, biochar adds organic matter, improves water retention, reduces nutrient leaching, and maximizes the surface area of your soil, increasing its capacity for microorganisms.

Biochar is an excellent way to store carbon. Carbon is a building block of life. By using biochar, you are utilizing a renewable resource and keeping carbon out of the atmosphere for many years to come.

Biochar is sold in 3 gallon bags. 3 gallons is enough to begin to see results in a 4′ x 8′ bed. In our experiments, we found biochar improves the soil in anywhere from 2% – 15%. Any more than 15% showed negligent benefits. We recommend starting small and then adding more over time. We add small amounts of biochar whenever we plant as part of the soil amendment process.
